New Battlefield 2042 trailer showcases biggest map in franchise history

A new trailer for Battlefield 2042 showcases three of the game’s less-seen maps, including the biggest Conquest and Breakthrough map in franchise history.

The trailer features the maps Renewal, Discarded, and Breakaway, the latter of which is the biggest map in the game—and in the series, barring Battlefield V Firestorm‘s Halvoy. We’ve seen snippets of each map in previous trailers, but not as much as what’s in this trailer.

Besides giving us a look at previously unseen areas of each map, the trailer also includes some gameplay with new weapons and attachments. The first new weapon we see, during the Renewal clip, is the PKP-BP. This appears to be an LMG with a 200-round magazine. We also see a great teamplay moment where the shield operator Dozer ducks down to give his teammate a clear shot.

During the Breakaway clip, we see a MacKay firing an AK-24. That weapon featured in the beta. However, MacKay’s AK sports a drum magazine and a holo sight, two attachments that skipped the beta. DICE previously unveiled Battlefield 2042‘s weapon customization system, so we suspect we’ll see a lot more attachments in the final version of the game than we did in the beta.

We also spotted that the A sector on Breakaway featured three capture points—at least, in the current-gen and PC version of the map. The max capture points in a sector on the beta’s Orbital map was two.

Battlefield 2042 launches November 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Early access kicks off on November 12th. We suspect we’ll see several more trailers between now and then, which will hopefully include more deep dives into Portal and Hazard Zone.
