Report: The leaked Battlefield 2021 video is real, but it’s not the reveal trailer
A video reportedly related to the next Battlefield game has leaked online, but it’s not the full reveal trailer that’s scheduled to arrive in June.
The video, which appeared on Reddit (though it comes with a MAJOR EPILEPSY WARNING), seems to be the one that insider Tom Henderson based his leaks on, including the drawings that he made of the game’s setting. It also appears to be the source for the leaked screenshots.
However, according to Eurogamer, this video was meant for internal use at EA and is not the reveal trailer (at least not the full reveal trailer) as many have speculated.
So what does that mean? Well, it does mean that the video is related to the next Battlefield and seemingly shows the game’s setting and several of its features. The video shows a large group of soldiers storming a rocket launch site on a beach, accompanied by Osprey planes and a massive storm approaching the coast. Near the end of the video, the rocket attempts to launch, but the storm pushes it over, resulting in a massive explosion.
It appears to show a near-future setting as many leaks have indicated and that the title is just Battlefield, though that could just be for internal-use purposes. Keep in mind that none of this is confirmed. It’s unclear at what point in development this video started making the rounds at EA, so this could represent an early version of what the game ended up being, or not related to the final product at all.
We don’t have long to wait until we see the actual reveal trailer. EA confirmed that it will reveal the next Battlefield game in June ahead of EA Play Live 2021 in July and that it will come to both current- and last-gen consoles this holiday season.
