Red Dead Redemption 2 to leave Xbox Game Pass next month
After a few short months on the service, Red Dead Redemption 2 is leaving Xbox Game Pass on September 7th.
Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on Game Pass back in May, tagging in for Rockstar’s other major current title, Grand Theft Auto V, which was also only on Game Pass for a few months.
If you’re in the middle of Arthur Morgan’s ill-fated adventure and won’t have time to finish it before September 7th, the game is currently seeing a major discount, priced at $34.99 for general consumers and $29.99 if you’re an Xbox Live Gold subscriber.
While the single-player campaign has generally been praised for its storytelling and its immersive approach to wild west living, its multiplayer—Red Dead Online—has had a rough road, especially recently when Rockstar had to roll back a major update because it practically broke the game. Thankfully, the roll back seemed to work, and follow-up update introduced a Hardcore Series that strips away all the fluff like aim assist and skill cards so that only the best quick draws will survive.
As Red Dead Redemption 2 leaves Game Pass, the subscription service is getting a few new heavy-hitters over the next couple of weeks. Resident Evil 7, the first chapter of Dontnod’s Tell Me Why, Battle Toads, and Wasteland 3 are all launching on Game Pass by the beginning of September.
