Master Chief could be joining Kratos in Fortnite
It looks like Fortnite‘s gaming crossovers aren’t ending with God of War‘s Kratos. According to a few reported leaks, Halo’s Master Chief is heading to Epic’s battle royale game, too.
A tweet from a Fortnite “dataminer” has gone live, purporting to show John 117 in the skins store. The image apparently comes from an anonymous 4Chan member who also correctly predicted several other additions to Fortnite before they were announced, so take that with a grain of salt.
Likewise, other leaks show a Pelican as Chief’s drop umbrella and a tiny warthog. Yet another leak shows a Gravity Hammer skin for the pickax. The leak also claims that Fortnite will get a Capture the Flag limited-time game mode alongside these Halo-themed cosmetics.
Yesterday’s official teaser that Kratos was coming to Fortnite also adds an air of legitimacy to these leaks, as it would be weird for PlayStation to have a character representing them but not Xbox.
It would also make sense that Microsoft would want to continue to promote Halo in light of the fact that Halo Infinite was delayed out of being a launch title for the Xbox Series X and S and still doesn’t have a solid release date.
Then there’s the question about Nintendo’s Fortnite representative. Will the House that Mario Built shy away from lending one of their characters’ likenesses to a game where they fire realistic weapons? Or are they just saving the best for last? Metroid’s Samus Aran would be the obvious choice, though we’re not sure how she’d hold an AK-47 while also wearing her blaster, but that’s a question for the experts at Epic to answer.
