Obviously, a lot has changed between 2001 and now, including what appears to be a rumored grappling hook on Master Chief’s wrist, but it looks like 343 Industries is trying to send a message with Halo Infinite‘s box art. Either that or it’s just preying on our nostalgia.
343 Industries has stated that Infinite is about striking a “delicate balance of forging new roads while respecting a legacy” while implying that the next Halo game will be something of a refresh for the series. That probably has something to do with the new Slipspace Engine, as well as hinting that the main villains in the series will be the Banished.
The box art reveal comes just a day before Xbox gives us a first look at Halo Infinite‘s gameplay during its Games Showcase on July 23rd at 9 a.m. PT. However, the developer has confirmed that gameplay footage will come solely from the campaign.
Halo Infinite will be playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. A launch date has yet to be revealed.
