FFXIV trailer shows off the new content coming in Update 6.1
Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV‘s next big update, Newfound Adventure, will go live on April 12th.
This upcoming update will bring with it new main scenario quests, the first part of the 24-player Myths of the Realm Alliance Raid series, new tribe quests involving the Arkasodara, and a new Ishgardian residential district for housing. In addition, players can tackle a new extreme trial and try out the game’s revamped PvP.
6.1 introduces the Crystalline Conflict, a new 5v5 small-scale PvP mode. In this mode, players will be competing to be the first to push the crystal into the opposing team’s base. Accompanying the Crystalline Conflict is a new rewards system that will see players working through a reward track filled with various items, including a new type of currency that can be traded for cosmetics. The reward track is progressed by earning XP from PvP modes.
Another big addition in 6.1 is the beta version of Adventurer Plates. This new feature allows players to create a custom profile with a portrait of their character, favorite job, active times, and more. The portrait will also be shown at the start of the new PvP mode.
Looking forward, Square Enix plans to introduce a new Ultimate Duty in 6.11, more Hildibrand quests and Custom Deliveries in 6.15, and Data Center Travel in 6.18.
Final Fantasy XIV is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
