Epic Games acquires Fall Guys developer Mediatonic

Growing behemoth Epic Games has gobbled up another developer, and this time it’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout‘s Mediatonic.

The developer announced that it’s “joined the Epic Games family” on the official Fall Guys twitter account and clarified what this would mean for the future of the game on a subsequent FAQ blog.

If you were worried that the Steam version would disappear, worry not. The game will still be purchasable on Valve’s platform, at least for now. It will also remain on the PlayStation Store, and plans to bring it to Xbox consoles and Switch have not changed.

The biggest changes that are coming to the game are features that are prevalent in other Epic-owned games, specifically Fortnite and Rocket League, like “account systems, cross-play, and squad vs. squad modes.” As far as making the game free-to-play, Mediatonic has “nothing to announce” at the moment, though it sounds like the possibility is there.

Fall Guys recently revealed that its fourth season will have a futuristic theme and just added Cuphead costumes in collaboration with Studio MDHR.
