Hitman 3 launch trailer is moody and bloody
Hitman 3 is right around the corner, and developer IO Interactive has released a launch trailer that shows off the game’s moody tone, as well as several of the previously unseen locations in action.
Notably, the launch trailer gives us somewhat extended glimpses of the pastoral, sun-drenched landscape of Argentina and a pulsing nightclub scene that was only briefly shown off in the original reveal trailer.
The trailer also hints that Hitman 3 will be considerably moodier and darker than the previous two games. Of course, “moody” and “dark” has always been part of Agent 47’s adventures (he is an assassin, after all), but seeing as how Hitman 3 will continue Hitman 2‘s story, in which 47 takes the first steps of his revenge plot against Providence, it’s safe to assume that Hitman 3 will be a more cathartic outing for the cueball antihero.
While Hitman 3‘s missions will take on a lot of the same structures as the previous two games’, that doesn’t mean that 47 doesn’t have a few new tricks up his sleeves. The use of a digital camera will play a role in assassinating his targets, as will a new persistent shortcut system that will make it easier to complete all a level’s challenges in subsequent runs.
Hitman 3 launches on January 20th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch via cloud gaming, Google Stadia, and PC. IO recently confirmed that the Switch version will launch alongside every other version, and PlayStation players can play every location in the trilogy in VR via PSVR.
