Ubisoft to host another Forward digital event in September
Ubisoft’s first Forward event was such a huge success that it’s hosting another one in September.
Video Games Chronicle reports that Frederick Duguet, Ubisoft’s chief financial planning officer, announced the September event during a recent earnings call.
According to Duguet, the first Ubisoft Forward “achieved record-high peak concurrent viewership during this event, surpassing our previous E3 conferences.” The event probably got some help from leaks and rumors about Far Cry 6, which started surfacing days prior.
It’s unclear exactly what Ubisoft plans to show off during the September Forward. Watch Dogs: Legion is launching on October 9th, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is launching on November 17th. Getting some gameplay footage of Far Cry 6 would be nice, too, considering the game is already scheduled for February. Maybe we’ll finally get release dates for Gods & Monsters and Rainbow Six Quarantine after both games were delayed out of 2020. While the pricing for Legion and Valhalla will remain consistent with current-gen games, Ubisoft has not committed to the same with its future titles.
Meanwhile, questions and concerns about Ubisoft’s toxic workplace culture remain, a topic that the publisher did not address during its previous Forward. It’s unclear if Ubisoft plans on taking time out of a marketing event to talk about the rampant accusations of sexual harassment, firings, and resignations that have happened over the course of the last few weeks.
