The Outer Worlds: Check out 12 minutes of gameplay from Peril on Gorgon
Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division have released a 12-minute trailer showing off gameplay from Peril on Gorgon, the first DLC for the sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds.
The video, narrated by game director Carrie Patel, focuses on a single sidequest from the expansion called “Love Is the Plan the Plan Is Death.”
Unlike many gameplay walkthroughs, this one puts a refreshing focus on the storytelling and role-playing elements that made The Outer Worlds such a great game. From the looks of things, Peril on Gorgon will add some interesting new characters and amusing dialogue options to your experience.
You’ll also get a look at the Gorgon hub area, the Sprat Shack—a SubLight-owned bar where you’ll pick up multiple sidequests—and a new science weapon: the Pest Extermination Tool, a melee weapon that lets you pull enemies in towards you.
Accompanying the gameplay footage is a blurb that summarizes the new sidestory you’ll see play out in Peril on Gorgon:
A severed arm and a mysterious message lead the crew of the Unreliable to the Gorgon Asteroid, formerly the site of one of Halcyon’s most ambitious and disastrous scientific undertakings, now a lawless den of monsters and marauders. Wealthy recluse Minnie Ambrose tasks the crew with finding answers about Dr. Olivia Ambrose, her mother and the doomed project’s disgraced director, but they are soon ensnared in an intrigue that will change the colony forever.
It’s worth noting, if you missed the previous news, that Peril on Gorgon won’t be a standalone story divorced from the rest of the game. Instead, it’ll incorporate a new questline into the main game, with tasks that will let you explore the new locale of Gorgon and also revisit other locations from the rest of the game.
The Outer Worlds is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. The Peril on Gorgon DLC launches September 9th on all platforms except Nintendo Switch.
