The Last of Us Part II gets PS5 performance patch

Naughty Dog and Sony have released a new patch for The Last of Us Part II designed to improve performance when playing the game via backward compatibility on PlayStation 5.

The main focus of the patch, live today, is on boosting the game’s frame rate, with a new option to target 60 frames per second while playing on PS5.

“Once patch 1.08 for The Last of Us Part II is installed on your PS5, you will find a toggle in the Display options that allows you to choose between a Framerate Target of 30 FPS or 60 FPS,” wrote Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer in the official announcement. “This allows you to choose your preferred framerate to complement the rest of the enhancements that are part of the PS5 backward compatibility with PS4 games, such as an enhanced resolution, faster load times, and more.”

Sony also released a trailer showing off the enhancements in action.
