Sea of Thieves gets 120 FPS performance mode for Series X with latest update
The most recent update for Sea of Thieves, which introduced the game’s first Season of content, has also added a new performance mode that will let players experience the game at 120 frames per second on Xbox Series X.
This Series X-exclusive performance mode will downgrade the resolution from 4K to 1080p, and might also require players to disable HDR (depending on your TV), but it will let players with TVs that support 120 Hz refresh rates to play the game at 120 FPS.
The update also introduces a few small but significant gameplay changes. Cross-crew voice chat and text chat are now restricted, so you don’t have to worry about any foul-mouthed scallywags. The Ship Selection Screen will also now tell you the recommended crew size for each ship.
Obviously, the bulk of the update is the introduction of Season One content, including Lost Shipments, weekly Game Events, and new items for the Pirate Emporium. The update is 8.82 GB on Series X and One X, 6.01 GB on Series S and Xbox One, 8.56 GB on Windows 10, and 6.65 on Steam.
