Riders Republic, Ubisoft’s massive extreme sports game, delayed past February
Ubisoft’s ambitious Riders Republic will miss its planned February launch, the publisher announced. A message posted to the game’s official Twitter account said it will now launch “later this year.”
“This additional time will allow our passionate team to deliver the best fun fueled experience to our players,” the statement read in part. You can check out the full announcement in the tweet below.
If you missed the announcement last year, Riders Republic is an extreme sports game set in an open world inspired by six U.S. national parks. On next-gen consoles, races will support upwards of 50 players at a time, meaning things will certainly get a bit hectic. All in all, the games feel like a spiritual successor to the winter sports game Steep, albeit expanded significantly.
While this may be the most recent delay of a 2021 game, it’s hardly the only one. Outriders recently shifted from February to April, and Hogwarts Legacy, the Harry Potter RPG, slipped into 2022. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier recently said there would be “many, many 2021 game delays.”
Riders Republic, whenever it arrives, will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and Windows PC via the Epic Games Store and Uplay.
