PlayStation Plus free games for July revealed
July is right around the corner, and that means it’s time for another round of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
Starting July 6th, PlayStation 5 PS Plus subscribers can download A Plague Tale: Innocence for free. This is perfect timing, since the Asobo Studios game is about to get a next-gen upgrade that targets native 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. The PS5 version will also get haptic feedback on the DualSense controller and 3D Audio. A sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, recently debuted during Xbox’s E3 2021 presentation and is scheduled to launch in 2022. In our review of the rat-infested game, we said that A Plague Tale: Innocence was “a gripping, touching, emotional, yet at times horrifying experience, one that feels quite unlike almost any other game out there.”
PlayStation 4 owners (as well as PS5 owners) that have a PS Plus subscription can download Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and WWE 2K Battlegrounds. The former was 2018’s entry in the perennial shooter series that infamously dropped the single-player campaign and brought battle royale to the franchise for the first time in Blackout. The latter is a more arcade-like attempt to bring something new to the long-running WWE 2K series and includes a story mode as well as online multiplayer.
There’s also a bonus game available to PS Plus subscribers on PS4 and PS5: Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, which is sticking around another month. These four games will be available to download for free from July 6th to August 2nd. That means that July 5th is your last chance to download June’s PS Plus games, which include Star Wars: Squadrons and Operation: Tango.
