Hitman 3 reveals DualSense features, how PSVR will work on PS5
A new blog post on PlayStation’s website from Hitman 3 developer IO Interactive has detailed how the last game in the “World of Assassination” trilogy will take advantage of the PS5’s DualSense controller, as well as how PSVR will work on the new console.
According to the blog post, Hitman 3 will take advantage of the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers in several different ways. The adaptive triggers will react to each shot fired, with automatic weapons simulating recoil with every bullet.
The adaptive triggers will also interact with the game’s Focus effect. Gently squeezing the R2 button will hit a tension point in the trigger that slows down time so you can line up your shot. Pushing past that tension point and fully pressing the button will fire your weapon.
Likewise, haptic feedback—the controller’s advanced rumble feature—will be “tied to the distinct sound profile of each weapon.” In other words, every gun should feel different in your hands.
PlayStation VR support was also one of the questions we had, since—based on the information we have—it’s exclusive to the PS4 version of the game. You will be able to play Hitman 3 (and the rest of the trilogy) in PSVR on he PS5 via backwards compatibility.
Every PS5 copy of Hitman 3 will come with a free digital copy of the PS4 version, whether you purchase the game physically or digitally. And if you own the previous two games on PS4, you can either download their levels digitally or pop in your discs, as long as you have the PS5 with a disc drive.
Likewise, if you purchase Hitman 3 for the PS4 and then upgrade to a PS5, you can do so at no charge. The only catch is that if you have the physical PS4 game, you can only get the PS5 version if you have a PS5 with a disc drive. Otherwise, you will need the digital version of the game to upgrade.
IO also put together a new trailer that gives us a few more viewing angles of the three locations we know about so far—Chongqing, Dartmoor, and Dubai.
Hitman 3 launches on January 20th, 2021 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Pre-ordering either the standard or deluxe edition will net you a slick trio of suits for 47.
