Gotham Knights delayed
Gotham Knights, Warner Bros. Games Montréal’s co-op game set in the Batman universe, will miss its planned 2021 release.
The news comes via a brief announcement on the game’s official Twitter account, which confirms that the game will now arrive in 2022.
“We are giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players,” the message read. “Thank you to our amazing fans for your tremendous support of Gotham Knights. We look forward to showcasing more of the game in the coming months.”
If you missed the announcement last August—also the last time WB showed anything from the game—Gotham Knights is an action game set in Gotham after the apparent death of Bruce Wayne. In the wake of that tragedy, four of his allies—Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood—must team up to protect the city.
While many elements of the game appear to be an evolution of the Batman: Arkham series, Gotham Knights will be set in its own separate continuity. One major addition is the introduction of RPG-style progression, allowing you to level up each character and pick new abilities from a skill tree.
There’s also, of course, the option to play through the game in two-player drop-in co-op, complete with special team-up attacks.
Gotham Knights will now launch in 2022 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
