Genshin Impact’s PlayStation 5 upgrade shown off in new gameplay video
Sony and miHoYo have shared a new gameplay video for Genshin Impact that shows the game running natively on PlayStation 5.
The upcoming upgraded version of the game runs at native 4K and features high-resolution textures, an increased Level of Detail distance, support for HDR, and much faster loading times thanks to a “tailor-made file-loading system.” Developer miHoYo also plans to redesign controller support “from scratch” to make use of the DualSense controller.
“The PlayStation 5 hardware provides an ideal platform to experience Genshin Impact, making the world of Teyvat even more detailed, more vivid, and more immersive. That’s why we wanted to bring the PS5 version to players as soon as we could,” studio technical director Zhenzhong Yi wrote in a PlayStation Blog post.
“At the same time, we’ve been working to develop various functions to fully utilize this next-gen console in the long run: we created a graphics library completely from the ground up, and we built a customized file-loading system to take advantage of the powerful SSD of the PS5. So in future updates, we will have much more potential to elevate the visual quality and game performance – we are only scratching the surface.”
Yi added that the PlayStation 5 release “is just the beginning of the new console experience.”
Genshin Impact is available now on PlayStation 4, PC, and mobile. The PlayStation 5 upgrade is scheduled to go live on April 28th alongside the release of update 1.5.
