Destiny 2 will run at 4K/60 FPS on next-gen consoles
Bungie revealed during today’s Beyond Light livestream that Destiny 2 will run at 4K and 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
In addition to the doubling of the game’s FPS, the developer confirmed that all Destiny 2 content that players own on current-gen consoles will be available on next-gen consoles at no extra charge within the same console family. On PlayStation, players can upgrade to PlayStation 5 for free, while on Xbox, Destiny 2 will support the Smart Delivery system. For those who are unaware, Xbox’s Smart Delivery system allows players to purchase a game once and then play it on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
Bungie also announced that Destiny 2 will support intergenerational cross-play within each console family. Basically, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players can play together and Xbox One and Xbox Series X players can play together. The developer hopes to introduce full cross-platform play support in 2021.
Destiny 2’s recently unveiled Beyond Light expansion launches September 22nd for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Stadia.
