Destiny 2 coming to Xbox Game Pass with all expansions
Destiny 2 will be coming to Xbox Game Pass later this year, allowing subscribers to Microsoft’s service to play through the base game and all available expansions at no additional cost.
The announcement came during the Xbox game showcase stream and was accompanied by a new trailer for the upcoming expansion, Destiny 2: Beyond Light. While the first-person shoot-and-loot RPG will join Game Pass in September, the content of Beyond Light will also be made available to Game Pass subscribers when it launches on November 10th (following a recent delay).
The expansion trailer, which you can check out below, showcased some of the new content Guardians will encounter on Europa. Notable is a look at the Stasis powers, which are fueled by the nebulous in-game evil known as the Darkness. It looks like you’ll be able to freeze enemies in place and shatter them, as well as generate pillars of ice that can be used both as walls—for cover—and platforms—for, you know, getting places.
Microsoft also announced that it’s working with Bungie to allow Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to play Destiny 2 using the Project xCloud streaming technology, which Microsoft recently announced would become available to subscribers at no additional cost. That means that you’ll be able to play Destiny 2 on a compatible mobile phone or tablet, streamed at full console quality from the cloud.
Finally, Microsoft also highlighted something we’ve known for a few weeks: that Destiny 2 will be optimized to run at 4K and 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X.
Destiny 2 is also available on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
