Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s progression system replaces Prestige with Officer Ranks
A new post over on the Activision blog has outlined how multiplayer progression will work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
To start with, players will begin their multiplayer journey by working through 55 Enlisted Ranks. By progressing through these ranks, players will unlock new weapons, equipment, perks, Field Upgrades, and Killstreaks.
After reaching Enlisted Rank 55, players will enter the new Officer Ranks system, which replaces the Prestige system. This new system will not reset player’s Enlisted Ranks progress and instead offers 100 new seasonal Officer Ranks to work through. At Officer Rank 1, players will receive a cosmetic weapon blueprint and with each rank up will unlock a new special Officer Challenge. These challenges reward XP and a special Seasonal Ribbon upon completion. Earning 10 of these ribbons grants a special Seasonal Emblem, with an animated emblem and another cosmetic blueprint available for collecting all 100 ribbons.
The first set of 100 Officer Ranks will be available from launch with progress being reset each season.
In addition to the above, players can complete Challenge Missions, multi-step objectives, to earn XP and special rewards. Challenge Missions are activated from the Barracks menu and require players to play specific game modes or use particular weapons.
Finally, each weapon in the game can also be leveled up by using it to unlock new attachments, weapon perks, and camouflage.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches October 25th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
