Bungie set to reveal Destiny 2: The Witch Queen next month

Destiny 2‘s next major expansion, The Witch Queen, will get a reveal on August 24th, according to a recent tweet from the game’s official account. Bungie has announced a “showcase” for the game, as well as a tagline for the expansion: “Survive the Truth.”

The only thing we know about The Witch Queen is that players will face off against the titular Hive god Savathûn. Fans of the series’ lore will know that Savathûn is sister to both Oryx, The Taken King, and Xivu Arath, God of War, both of whom have featured heavily in Destiny’s overarching saga. The Witch Queen is the second chapter in the game’s current trilogy, bookended by Beyond Light and Lightfall.

Interestingly enough, August 24th is also the last day of Season of the Splicer. Given that Bungie delayed The Witch Queen into 2022 earlier this year, we’ll hopefully be finding out what’s in store for Destiny’s more immediate future sooner than August 24th. Destiny 2 is currently running its Solstice of Heroes event through August 3rd.

We already know some of what we can expect from Season 15, however. Notably, full cross-play functionality is scheduled to launch after Bungie held a brief beta for the feature in May.
