Battlefield 2042 Breakthrough changes nerfs attacking team’s tickets

DICE has updated Battlefield 2042‘s Breakthrough mode to give attackers less tickets per sector taken in an attempt to make matches more intense in their later stages.

According to a post from Battlefield community manager Adam Freeman, DICE has been “monitoring match outcomes and observed that the attacking team often started with the maximum number of reinforcements in the final sector.” Freeman stated that this is “neither balanced, nail-biting, nor fair for the opposing team.”

As a response, DICE has reduced the amount of tickets that the Attacking team will receive after capturing a sector across all maps in both 128-player and 64-player versions of the mode. However, in 128-player Breakthrough, the attacking team will start with slightly more tickets at the beginning of the match; attackers in 64-player Breakthrough will start with slightly fewer tickets, too.

Here is the full breakdown of what those changes will be:

While this will hopefully be a positive change for the mode, players are still waiting for Update 3.3, the game’s first major update in 2022. That update, which was recently delayed to March, will include an updated version of the game’s current scoreboard, which currently does not show individual kill counts or deaths for anyone other than the player. Along with the delay of Update 3.3 to March, DICE also delayed Season 1 to early summer. The delays of these updates and content has surely bolstered a petition—now signed by over 200,000 people—asking EA to allow refunds of the game on all platforms.

Battlefield 2042 is available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
