Atomic Heart gets new publisher, delayed
The highly anticipated Atomic Heart has gotten a new publisher, but it’s also gotten a new release date, and it’s not longer launching in 2022.
Developer Mundfish will team up with publishing partner Focus Entertainment to launch the game sometime “this winter,” meaning the first few months of 2023. Focus and Mundfish announced the delay in a joint statement (via Gematsu).
“Five years ago, when we founded the studio, we set ourselves the goal of creating a world-class product that could be appreciated by millions of people all over the world,” Mundfish CEO Robert Bagratuni said. “And now, when the stakes are as high as ever, we are finally ready to release the momentum we have been accumulating over these years.
“We couldn’t be happier to head to the release with such an experienced publisher, and we have no doubt that Focus Entertainment will make the upcoming game launch truly outstanding.”
It’s unclear if or how this new publishing deal could impact Atomic Heart‘s inclusion on Xbox Game Pass day one, though so far no one has said anything about that. The action-packed gameplay trailer that debuted during gamescom 2022 still labeled it as a Game Pass game.
Atomic Heart is in development for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
