Ghost of Tsushima suffers a short delay

As part of a release date reshuffle caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Sucker Punch’s PlayStation 4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima will no longer arrive in June as planned. Instead, the open-world samurai game will arrive July 17th, Sony announced in on the PlayStation Blog.

The move seems motivated entirely by a need to give another big PlayStation exclusive some breathing room. The Last of Us Part II, previously scheduled to launch May 29th, has now been pushed to a new date, one that’s very close to Ghost‘s originally planned June 26th launch.

Ghost of Tsushima sees players take on the role of a samurai named  Jin Sakai in the year 1274, as he fights off a Mongol invasion of the titular Japanese island. The game looks heavily inspired by both real history and samurai films, and promises lots of gorgeous scenery and exploration. It’s Sucker Punch Productions’ first new property since the launch of the original Infamous back on PlayStation 3.

Last month, Sony detailed the game’s special editions.
