Skill-based matchmaking and bots coming to Fortnite
Epic Games has announced that it will be introducing skill-based matchmaking and bots to Fortnite in upcoming updates.
As part of the 10.40 update, which is due later this week, the developer will add skill-based matchmaking to the game. “You will be more likely to match with players of similar skill, and as you get better, so should your opponents,” Epic explains. This improved matchmaking system will be rolled out slowly across all regions and core modes.
The developer also announced that Bots will be added to Fortnite in season 11 to help ease newer players into the game. According to Epic Games, as players improve in skill, they will face fewer bots.
“They will behave similarly to normal players and will help provide a better path for players to grow in skill,” the developer said. “Bots will work in conjunction with the new matchmaking system, and as your skill improves, you’ll face fewer Bots. Bots will not be present in Competitive playlists. This is another system that we will continue to update and iterate.”
In other news, Epic recently kicked off a Batman crossover event in Fortnite that introduces Gotham City as a point of interest, two new Batman-themed items, and several new cosmetics.
