Hangar 13 confirms ‘all-new’ Mafia game is in development
Hangar 13 has confirmed that an “all-new” game in the Mafia series is now in development.
General manager Roman Hladík revealed the news in a recent developer interview to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series.
“I’m happy to confirm we’ve started work on an all-new Mafia project,” Hladík said. “While it’s a few years away and we can’t share anything more right now, we’re really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.”
The last main entry in the series, Mafia III, was released in 2016 and told the story of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam veteran who decides to take on the Italian Mafia after they wipe out his surrogate family. This was followed by the Mafia Trilogy release in 2020, which bundled a remake of the first game with Definitive Editions of Mafia II and Mafia III.
In other news, 2K is giving away the original Mafia via Steam starting September 1st.
