Hogwarts Legacy delayed to 2023
Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software have delayed Hogwarts Legacy. The open-world game set in the Harry Potter universe will now launch on February 10th, 2023 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with a Switch launch date to be revealed later.
According to a statement from Avalanche, the developer needs “a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience.”
Hogwarts Legacy was initially supposed to launch holiday 2022, though it never received a proper release date. The last we’ve seen of the game was a cinematic that leaked from one of Autodesk’s tech talks.
Following a series of transphobic remarks from Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. did its darnedest to distance the series’ creator from the game, saying that she was “not directly involved” in its development. However, Warner Bros. has apparently taken down that statement.
