One of Hitman 3’s key new features takes a page out of the Dark Souls playbook
Hitman 3 will let you open up persistent shortcuts that you can later access in future replays of levels.
Game Informer recently posted a video showing how this new feature will work, and it’s definitely reminiscent of how shortcuts work in Dark Souls and other From Software games.
In the video, a disguised Agent 47 has reached the top of The Spectre, the super-skyscraper that acts as the setting for the Dubai mission, and unlocks ladders that ascend and descend the side of the building.
Then, in a second run, the next Agent 47 has access to those same ladders. Using those to climb the building, he is able to silently take out one of the mission’s two targets with a simple shot from his silenced pistol.
Besides the entire level that’s made out like a murder mystery, we haven’t seen many new features that Hitman 3 will be adding to 47’s repertoire. This shortcut system should open up a lot of new ways for players to get creative with their repeat runs, not to mention making Suit Only Silent Killer runs a little bit easier.
Hitman 3 launches on January 21st for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch via cloud streaming, and PC. PlayStation 4 and 5 players will also have access to the game’s VR mode if they own PlayStation VR.
