Xbox Series X tech demos show off loading times and Quick Resume feature
Microsoft has shared two Xbox Series X tech demos that show off the console’s loading times and new Quick Resume technology.
In the first video, we see a side-by-side comparison of how long it takes State of Decay 2 to load on Xbox One X and the next-gen Xbox Series X. As seen in the video below, the Xbox One X takes approximately 51 seconds to load, while the Xbox Series X manages it in just 10 seconds. The improved loading times are thanks to Series X’s 1 TB custom NVME SSD and Microsoft’s new Velocity Engine Architecture.
“Through Xbox Series X’s revolutionary Velocity Engine Architecture, gamers will experience more time playing and less time waiting as loading times will be greatly decreased and fast travel systems will be just that: fast,” Microsoft adds.
A second video showcases Xbox Series X’s Quick Resume technology which allows players to quickly and easily switch between games and pick up exactly where they left off. According to Microsoft, the game state will be saved if players “turn off the console, unplug it entirely, or even take a system update.”
Xbox Series X is scheduled to release in holiday 2020.
