Since the launch of Electronic Gaming Monthly in 1988, the magazine has pursued a singular objective: to provide gamers with the latest news from the world of gaming, providing in-depth coverage and hard-hitting reviews that always put the player first.
For nearly 35 years, EGM has remained focused on this mission to inform and entertain as the gaming universe matured from a handful of companies producing NES cartridges to an industry that now dwarfs film and music combined. During this time, EGM has stayed on the forefront of all the new advancements that have been made and has delivered insightful commentary, interviews, and reviews by players, for players.
EGM has always kept evolving—from print magazine to digital magazine to website. In our most recent iteration we provided daily news and reviews with an emphasis on telling it like it is, just as we’ve done for the previous generation of gamers.
Recently, we looked at the gaming landscape and our coverage and determined that there was something different that we could do. Rather than focusing on daily news, we’ve decided to go back to our roots. In the months to come you’ll see more longer-form content that is similar to the kinds of features, previews, reviews, and interviews that have filled the pages of Walmart Gamecenter magazine since its inception more than 10 years ago. Our goal remains the same: to provide a real voice for gamers while delivering top-notch content that continues to pull no punches.

Say goodbye to short news stories as we provide informative content, new regular features, and much more—including a new app that will bring you even more content, interactive magazines, podcasts, and exclusives in the months to come.
