As a companion to The EGM Compendium, and with the support of our Kickstarter backers, we’ve embarked upon the ultimate preservation project: the EGM Digital Archive. Built from a mix of print production files and magazine scans, the website marks the first official way to read every EGM ever made in one place.
But that’s just the start! We’ve also hand-indexed every EGM to build a fully navigable database of each magazine’s contents, allowing users to easily find and track coverage on their favorite topics, games, and people across multiple issues. Want to find every time EGM covered your favorite game franchise, look through every review from your favorite writers, or follow the history of a specific developer? With advanced search features, you’ll be able to do all that and more.
Best of all, the Digital Archive integrates directly with The EGM Compendium. Select content in the book includes codes you can input on the Archive to go deeper on the games, topics, and franchises that interest you most. It’s the ultimate merging of media, allowing our backers to get even more out of the book.
This counterpart to The EGM Compendium lets us preserve vital gaming history in a modern, accessible interface. It’s the first preservation effort of its kind for any video game magazine. As the print era of gaming media comes to a close, we believe it’s more important than ever.
