Sherlock Holmes Chapter One comes to PS4 next week, Xbox One version postponed indefinitely
Frogwares has announced an April 28th release date for the PlayStation 4 version of Sherlock Holmes Chapter One and an indefinite delay for the Xbox One version.
In a message posted to Twitter, the developer explained that it has been working on optimizing the last-gen versions of the game since September of last year. The team has had to do a lot of “invisible” changes as well as visible changes to the actual map to get the game to run on last-gen hardware. However, the war in Ukraine has impacted the developer and limited its resources and manpower resulting in this indefinite delay for the Xbox One version.
“To say the war made an impact on us is probably the understatement of the decade,” Frogwares wrote. “Keeping our personal and mental situation out of this, the war impacted us from a production point of view heavily. From where we stand now, with the resources and manpower that we have, we can release the PS4 version of Chapter One on April 28th. However, we have to postpone the Xbox One version indefinitely.”
As for players who have preordered the Xbox One version, Frogwares has informed Microsoft of the situation and the preorder can be canceled for a full refund. Read the developer’s full statement below:
Sherlock Holmes Chapter One is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
