Rock Band 4 details its plans for next-gen consoles
Rock Band 4 developer Harmonix recently revealed its plans for bringing the game to next-gen consoles, and the good news is that pretty much everything should work just fine.
Starting off, the game and all its DLC will be backward compatible on next-gen consoles. Xbox One players can bring their progress over to Series X or S with cloud saves, while PlayStation 4 players can either use cloud saves on PS5 with a PS Plus account or bring their save data over with a hard drive.
If you want to play with friends on current-gen consoles, that’s fine. Rock Band 4 will support cross-gen play within the same console family, so Xbox Series X owners can play with their Xbox One friends. Same goes for PS4 and PS5 players. Players on next-gen consoles, however, will get to enjoy the game’s improved load times.
As for all of those plastic peripherals you’ve got lounging around, most of them should work on next-gen consoles. Harmonix tested a good amount of the peripherals available, and these are the ones that the developer confirmed will work on next-gen:
