Pokémon Unite launches for Nintendo Switch next month

The Pokémon Company has announced that its free-to-start Pokémon MOBA Pokémon Unite will officially launch for Nintendo Switch in July.

Unite takes place on Aeos Island, a mythical island on the ocean’s unexplored frontier and home to the Unite Battle Committee, which runs the Unite Battle tournaments. In these Unite Battles, two teams of five will compete to see who can score the most points before the timer runs out. To earn these points, defeat wild and opposing Pokémon to gather Aeos energy and then deposit it in one of the opposing team’s goals.

Before each battle, Pokémon are returned to level one and must gain XP and level up throughout the match. As they level up, Pokémon will learn new abilities, evolve, and gain access to a powerful Unite Move.

Unite also features Holowear that can be used to customize the look of Pokémon, Trainer customization, a Battle Pass full of rewards, and cross-platform play and progression between Switch and the mobile release, which is coming later.

Pokémon Unite launches July for Nintendo Switch and for mobile devices in September.
