Pokémon Legends: Arceus visits Sinnoh’s past in early 2022

Pokémon is heading in a new direction with the announcement of Pokémon Legends: Arceus for Nintendo Switch.

In this latest entry in the series, players will be taken back to a “long-gone era of the Sinnoh region” and tasked with creating and completing the region’s first Pokédex.

To achieve this, players will need to adapt to a new way of catching Pokémon that involves observing and learning behaviors, before sneaking up on them and throwing a Poké Ball. There’s still the option to battle by throwing a Poké Ball holding a Pokémon near a wild Pokémon to seamlessly enter a battle.

“You’ll be brought to the Sinnoh region, the setting for the Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl games. But this story unfolds in a long-gone era, before ideas such as being a Pokémon Trainer or having a Pokémon League even existed,” The Pokémon Company explains. “All around, you’ll find Pokémon living wild in harsh environments that make for a Sinnoh unlike the region you may remember from the days of the Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl games.”

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is coming to Nintendo Switch in early 2022.
