PlayStation Store top downloads for March prove Europe is full of scrubs
Sony has announced the PlayStation Store’s top downloads for March 2022, and that data is clear: Europe needs to git gud.
That may sound harsh, but the data doesn’t lie. In the U.S. and Canada, the top game on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 was FromSoftware’s notoriously challenging Elden Ring. In Europe, however, it was only in 3rd place, on both generations.
What else is there to conclude but the continent is packed with people too terrified to take on Margit, the Fell Omen? Well, actually, maybe more Europeans bought their copies physically, since the charts only track digital downloads. Maybe more of them got the game closer to its February launch. But where’s the fun in being reasonable?
As for new releases, Gran Turismo 7 charted in the top three on all platforms in all regions, with the PS5 version taking the top spot in Europe. Stranger of Paradise, a March 10th launch, came in at 7th and 14th in U.S./Canada and Europe, respectively—but only on PS5. The last-gen version didn’t chart at all. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands managed to reach the number 5 slot in the U.S. despite launching at the end of the month, on March 25th. Ghostwire: Tokyo launched the same day and only managed 9th in the U.S./Canada and 16th in Europe.
As for the PlayStation VR and free-to-play charts, Beat Saber and Fortnite predictably held onto the top spots in both regions.
