PlayStation Plus monthly games for October revealed
Sony has announced the free PlayStation Plus games that will be available for subscribers to clam during the month of October. Unless you have pretty particular tastes, however, you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up too high.
This month, PlayStation Plus members—any tier, Extra or higher—will be able to redeem a free copy of three titles, all playable natively on PlayStation 4 and one with a dedicated PlayStation 5 version as well. (You can of course play the PS4 games through backward compatibility on PS5.)
The cross-gen title is Hot Wheels Unleashed, a 2012 racing game that puts you behind the wheel of the iconic toy cars. As for the two PS4 games, there’s the DC superhero fighting game Injustice 2 and the stylish first-person shooter Superhot, in which time only advances when you move. Both those PS5 titles came out in 2017, so you’re essentially looking at two five-year-old games and a racing game.
I know, I know: gift horses, mouths, etc. Free games are free games, and maybe something you don’t think you would enjoy ends up being your favorite.
The new batch of games will be available to download starting October 4th. As always, that means you have until the 3rd to nab the current (better) batch of games.
