PlayStation gets Guinness World Record for being best-selling home console brand
PlayStation is “the best-selling home video game console brand ever,” according to Guinness World Records.
According to the record-keeping company, PlayStation has sold more than 450 million units across the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 as of November 7th.
Sony is currently celebrating PlayStation’s 25th anniversary. The original console launched in Japan on December 3rd, 1994, with a Western release following in 1995.
Looking to the future, Sony plans to release the PlayStation 5 in holiday 2020. The upcoming next-generation console features an SSD as standard, an upgraded CPU and GPU, support for Ray Tracing, and more.
