“The Negro Leagues are an important part of baseball and American history, but their iconic figures are not as well-known as other players of the era. In MLB The Show 23‘s new mode Storylines, we introduce eight Negro League Players and their stories through short informational videos, followed by gameplay reflecting important moments in that player’s career. As for other improvements, the Plate Coverage Indicator (PCI) Anchor allows players to lock in their PCI anywhere inside the strike zone, while we’ve also expanded the custom batting practice options. But the addition I think could significantly change [the game] the most is the new Button Accuracy Meter. The on-target green region now moves when making those challenging throws on the field; for example, when making a long-distance throw from the outfield to home. This defensive change will be sure to enhance the competitive gameplay environment, and will reward players who practice and excel at executing the meter.”
