“The original Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin! (2014) was a historical fiction spin-off from Yakuza. Now, Like a Dragon: Ishin! is coming to the west, fully localized and rebuilt for modern platforms. It’s a historical action game based on the real-world swordsman Sakamoto Ryoma, who is on a quest to avenge his fallen mentor and restore his honor. As Ryoma, players will visit different locations in 1860s Japan and fight in high-intensity battles using katana, firearms, bare fists, and whatever you can weaponize around you. But while the story and script remain intact from the original, the graphics and systems have been updated with a new engine. The battle system has also been expanded, with new features like the Trooper Cards, which improves the breadth of combat customization. The update to the battle system is my favorite of these new aspects, as the combat has been highly refined and expanded.”
