Nioh 2 release date revealed, open beta detailed
Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja’s Nioh 2 will arrive on PlayStation 4 on March 13th, 2020.
“I know many of you have been waiting and we thank you for your patience while we worked to set an official date,” producer Fumihiko Yasuda wrote on the PlayStation Blog. “One of the primary reasons for not rushing to set a launch date was to ensure that we can achieve a ‘genuine evolution’ from Nioh, which to us meant that we needed to bring in fresh new elements while retaining the things that we felt were right from the first game.”
In addition to confirming the release date, Yasuda shared a few details about Nioh 2’s upcoming open beta. During the beta, players will be able to try out the game’s character customization feature and the new Switchglaive weapon.
The beta will drop players off in the Interim, a safe area where they can choose between different weapons and try them out before heading into the real game. After choosing to proceed, players enter a stage called Sunomata, which is based on the Sunomata castle.
The open beta runs from tomorrow, November 1st, through November 10th. Players who manage to complete the beta will be rewarded with The Mark of the Demon Slayer, which unlocks the Kamaitachi Helmet from the in-game Shrine to use in the full game.
Nioh 2 is available to preorder now and players who do so will receive the Demon Horde Armor Set, Sudama Netsuke Charm, a PS4 theme, and three avatars.
