Nintendo Switch surpasses 50 million units sold
The Nintendo Switch has now sold more than 52 million units worldwide, according to Nintendo’s latest financial results.
A total of 17.74 million units were sold between April 2019 and December 31st, 2019, to take the total units sold worldwide to 52.48 million. Of those 17 million Switch sales, 5.19 million were Nintendo’s handheld-only Nintendo Switch Lite.
The Nintendo 3DS sold 620,000 units in the same period, taking the lifetime sales of the handheld to over 75 million.
In terms of software sales, over 123 million units were sold between April and December 31st. Pokémon Sword and Shield were the biggest sellers with more than 16 million units sold since launch. This jumps the latest entries in the series ahead of last year’s Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu, which have sold 11.76 million units to date, and also puts the games fifth in overall software sales.
