New Apex Legends trailer shows off the beautiful mayhem that awaits in Season 7
Apex Legends Season 7 – Ascension is now less than a week away, and a new trailer from Respawn gives us a closer look at what awaits on Olympus.
Yes, in this new season, the game is getting its third map—the floating city of Olympus. I’m super excited for this map for two reasons. First, it brings a wonderful splash of color and modernness to a game that originally kicked off with with a brown, savage-styled battlefield. (No offense King’s Canyon, I still love you.) Second, because Olympus feels very reminiscent of locations from the Titanfall series, and that’s always a good thing.
And, of course, a new season also means a new Legend joining the fray. This time around, it’s Dr. Mary Somers, aka Horizon. The “charmingly eccentric astrophysicist” can deploy gravity lifts (like those we’ve already seen randomly added to the game, but anywhere), can use her N.E.W.T. robotic assistant to suck opponents into a black hole, and her spacesuit “allows her to fall from great heights and control her movements in the air.” I’m really curious to see how that last point comes into play.
We’ve also now learned some new details on the Trident, the vehicle that’s coming to Apex Legends in Season 7. Some Legend abilities can be used in conjunction with the Trident, such as attaching Caustic’s gas barrel, Gibraltar’s dome shield, or Rampart’s minigun to the vehicle’s body. As well, the Trident has no HP of its own. Instead, damage dealt to it will be distributed evenly to its riders.
And, of course, we’ll also be getting some new skins in Season 7, such as the—well, interesting—new alt that Wraith looks to be getting. Along with skins, though, something is coming that was definitely not expected: a new limited time mode called “Olympus Preview,” where players can run around the map sans-weapons in order to explore and get a feel for the new location.
Oh! And if you still need some help finishing up Season 6’s battle pass before Season 7 hits, Respawn announced that players will receive “double account XP” from now until when the new season launches.
Apex Legends Season 7 – Ascension hits on November 4th.
