MLB The Show 22 announces cover athlete, coming to Switch
Sony San Diego has revealed MLB The Show 22‘s cover athlete and release date, as well as its debut on a new platform.
Following last year’s debut on Xbox, Sony is widening its net even further by offering MLB The Show 22 on Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. This year’s game will feature cross-platform play, cross saves, and cross progression with all earned content on all platforms. Creating an MLB The Show account will allow you to bring all of your cards across any platform you play on, too.
In line with this historic announcement is another one: MLB The Show 22‘s cover athlete is none other than the unanimously voted American League MVP, Shohei Ohtani. The Los Angeles Angels’ two-way player had an unprecedented season, dominating both on the mound and in the batter’s box in a way we haven’t seen since Babe Ruth in the early 20th century. “Shotime” hit 46 homers, 100 RBIs, and stole 26 bases, all while pitching a 3.18 ERA with a 9-2 record in the regular season.
As far as new features are concerned, Sony San Diego hasn’t revealed anything yet, though it promises that “Feature Premieres” will return. That’s all leading up to the game’s launch on April 5th. The last-gen and Swtich standard editions will cost $59.99, while the current-gen versions will go for $69.99.
