Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales goes all-out with the Into the Spider-Verse suit
Ever since Sony and Insomniac Games announced Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, fans have been asking one question: Will we be able to use Miles’ suit from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse?
Now, Insomniac has emphatically answered that question with an 11-minute gameplay video. Marvel even recruited Spider-Verse production designer Justin K. Thompson to talk about how Insomnaic worked closely with the film’s creative team to nail the little details of the suit.
As you can see, the suit fantastic great in game, with shaders that mimic the halftone circle effects from the movie. The game version even manages to capture the movement style of the film, with fewer, more distinctive frames of animation. In combat, comic-style action bubbles appear when you punch enemies. The makeover really goes above and beyond just a suit.
Insomniac community director James Stevenson added one more crucial detail in a follow-up tweet. Apparently, the lower-framerate animation effect you see in some of the footage isn’t permanently locked to the suit. Instead, it comes from a suit mod called Vibe the Verse. That means you’ll be able to turn it on and off by equipping and unequipping it, and you’ll also be able to use it on any suit you want—not just the Spider-Verse one.
If you’d like to grab the Spider-Verse suit early on in your playthrough, you can preorder the game to unlock it early when you start playing. It’s not an exclusive though, so you can still earn it even if you don’t pick up the game right away.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches November 12th on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
