Horizon Forbidden West revealed for PlayStation 5

During today’s PlayStation 5 livestream, Sony and Guerrilla Games revealed Horizon Forbidden West, a next-gen-exclusive sequel to 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn.

The stunningly gorgeous trailer, which you can view in 4K below, confirmed the return of heroine Aloy, voiced once again by Ashly Burch, and the secretive Sylens, voiced by Lance Reddick.

As explained by the developers in a brief segment following the trailer, the sequel will take Aloy further west than her previous adventure, which centered on Colorado and the surrounding states. This time around, it looks like she’ll be headed to a tropical version of post-post-apocalyptic San Francisco, as well as a snowy rendition of the Yosemite Valley.

Notably, the trailer didn’t include any release window, so it appears extremely unlikely Forbidden West will be arriving in time for the PlayStation 5’s fall 2020 launch. Given that a number of other titles debuted today promised 2021 launches, it may not even arrive in the new console’s first year. Still, with visuals like that, we’re willing to be a little patient.
