Gamescom bringing back meatspace event this summer
Gamescom is bringing its in-person event back to Cologne, Germany, this year for the first time since its pre-pandemic, 2019 show.
Taking place from August 24th to August 28th at Koelnmesse, Gamescom’s organizers also revealed that the show is “going green.” New measures to achieve this include renovations that reduce energy needs, bike stations and a company bike program, and new air pollution control.
As far as considerations for the fact that we’re still in the midst of a global pandemic go, Gamescom will feature limited tickets and extra wide aisles, though it didn’t get into specifics. As Eurogamer reported, over 370,000 people attended Gamescom in 2019.
While the show’s physical, meatspace component will return this summer, Gamescom will still offer exclusive online events and a live broadcast of the Geoff Keighley–produced Opening Night Live.
