Free-to-start MOBA Pokémon Unite announced For Switch and mobile
During today’s Pokémon Presents, president and CEO of the Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, unveiled Pokémon Unite.
Unite is being developed in partnership with Tencent Games’ TiMi Studios and is described as “the first strategic Pokémon team battle game.” Players will face off in 5v5 team battles in which they will have to cooperate with teammates to catch wild Pokémon, level up and evolve their own Pokémon, and take down the opponents’ Pokémon. Points are earned by catching wild Pokémon and can be banked in one of the five scoring zones. The team with the most points at the end of the allotted time wins.
All Pokémon start the match at level one and can level up and evolve by defeating wild Pokémon on the map. When levelling up, Pokémon can learn new moves and players can choose which moves are learned to adapt their playstyle.
Pokémon Unite is in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile with support for cross-platform play. A release date has not been announced.
