Free-to-play FPS ExoMecha announced for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC

TwistedRed unveiled its new free-to-play online competitive first-person shooter ExoMecha during the pre-show for the Xbox Games Showcase.

The game is set on a newly discovered habitable planet called Omecha and sees “multiple smart species in the galaxy” fighting for control of its resources. Players can expect “high-quality visuals, flexible gameplay, giant mechs, unique gadgets and abilities, and boss battles,” according to TwistedRed coordinator Nursan Akinci. Watch the announcement trailer below:

“In our game, you will be able to control your personalized mechs,” Akinci added in an Xbox Wire post. “They will be equipped with both long-range firearms and giant melee weapons. The reason we put melee weapons for our mechs is that we want to add a unique flavor to the battle. Primary weapons of our mechs are their swords and shields and they have the highest damage compared to any other weapon in the game. Therefore, they are primarily designed to be used against enemy mechs. However, because of their short-range, they are hard to use against other types of vehicles.”

The upcoming game will feature three unique game modes. The first involves large team-based battles, the second is a battle royale mode, and the third is a small-scale objective-based mode. More information about these modes will be shared in the future.

ExoMecha is due to release in Q3/Q4 of 2021 for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
