FIFA 22 update makes changes to goalkeepers and referees
Update: Title Update 1 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Original Story: A new update is on the way for FIFA 22 that makes adjustments to Ultimate Team, overall gameplay, and more.
To start with, goalkeepers are now weaker when it comes to top corner shots taken from outside the box, and new animations have been added for saves from high finesse shots that will “very slightly” improve goalkeeper effectiveness. This update also adjusts defensive logic to help with counter-attacks from corners by making defenders more closely mark attackers.
In addition to the above, changes have been made to referee logic to call more fouls from high-velocity tackles and deliberately colliding with the keeper, while reducing the fouls called from well-timed slide tackles in the box and soft physical contact.
Other changes include improvements to the readability and clarity of the Division Rivals Progress tile, Tifos now being seen in the stadium while paused, and numerous bug fixes.
This update is available now on PC and Stadia and is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next week. Read the full notes here.
